Do you groan when someone asks you to volunteer? Is it a big word that you dodge as another commitment in your already busy schedule?
Gail Small wants to change your mind, if that is what you think. Gail says she receives her biggest rewards from volunteering, which can be something as simple as an act of kindness for a friend or neighbor or more involved, such as her service as a People to People Ambassador. Her new book Joyful Volunteering: Making a Difference tells incredible stories of many people who have received surprising gifts by helping others.
Gail is a Master teacher, who is listed in the Who’s Who among America’s Teachers; she is an inspirational speaker and an author of several books, including two Chicken Soup books. With Joyful Volunteering, Gail’s mission is to open our minds to making a difference for those who cannot help themselves and to see volunteering as the gift that keeps on giving.
Gail and Dr. Nancy discuss their mutual volunteer activities and the many rewards, both from those who receive and others who “pay it forward.”
