Why Stay Fit and Healthy

Women's Health Physician

Janet Tornelli-Mitchell, MD, FACP

What excuse do you have for not exercising today? If you are too busy to take care of your health, you need to rethink and reschedule your priorities. Women’s health specialist, Janet Tornelli-Mitchell, MD, FACP, says if you take the time to exercise, you will be more productive, feel better, have more energy and will actually get more done. Add to that: living longer, having an improved quality of life and reduced risk of heart disease and diabetes and it’s a no-brainer.

Women take care of everyone else first. But Dr. Janet says that it’s very important to turn that around. You can’t take care of anyone else if you are sick. And if you have children, what are you teaching them about taking care of their own health?

Dr. Janet was the first woman doctor to work at The Cooper Clinic, which is dedicated to wellness and preventive medical treatment. The book, Fit to Lead: The Proven 8-Week Solution for Shaping Up Your Body, Your Mind, and Your Career
, co-written by several doctors at the clinic has added a 2nd edition with Janet’s chapter on Women’s Health. Dr. Janet says that we need to think of exercise as medicine and take it like we would a pill that could keep us well every day.

There is no better medicine for creating more energy, reducing high blood pressure, and reducing the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Dr. Janet and Dr. Nancy discuss other benefits, such as recovering from otherwise mortal illness and living longer, higher quality lives.

If you’re not convinced yet, be sure to listen to this conversation by two doctors who are dedicated to helping women be the most fit and vital we can be.
